MİT briefs top leaders

ANKARA
The National Intelligence Organization (MİT) yesterday briefed Turkey’s top leaders regarding its internal overhaul and ambitions of becoming a leading global player in intelligence.

President Abdullah Gül, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu were among the officials who attended the gathering at the MİT headquarters, held as part of a series of events marking MİT’s 85th anniversary. Last week, MİT Chief Hakan Fidan held a similar briefing for the media, where he said the agency aimed to become a “first-class” player in the region and provide stronger support to Turkey’s foreign policy initiatives.
