Mining exports reach $3.3 billion in 8 months

The Turkish mining sector’s exports reached $3.3 billion in the eight months of 2013.The Istanbul Minerals and Metals Exporters’ Association (IMIB) stated that the Turkish mining industry continued to provide added value in the national economy with its success in exports.
The sector realized $3.3 billion in exports from January to August this year, an increased of 26.5 percent compared to the same period of 2012.
In August alone, the Turkish mining industry’s exports amounted to $401 million, an increase of 17.1 percent compared with the same month last year.
China has maintained its position as the top market for Turkish mining sector through the first eight months with a remarkable 51.7 percent rise from last year’s same period.
The exports to China, which include natural stones, copper ores, chrome ores and precious metal ores, have reached $1.657 billion.
