MHP to hold election brainstorming camp

ANKARA
The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will hold a brainstorming camp in Kızılcahamam, Ankara, between Jan. 11 and 13 to focus on upcoming elections.

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli will gather with members of his party’s 75-person Central Executive Board (MYK) and 50 deputies from the party at the camp.

“When the upcoming process is taken into consideration, three critical elections will be held which are important in regards to Turkey’s tomorrow,” MHP Secretary-General İsmet Büyükataman told Anatolia news agency on Dec. 28.

Local elections are scheduled to be held in March 2014 while presidential elections are set to be held in the summer of 2014. These elections will be followed by parliamentary elections in 2015.

“The process is critical for the country and is also vital for the MHP,” Büyükataman said, underlining the party’s concentrated preparation for the local elections which he said should be a “warning” to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

“We also hope that the results of the election in March 2014 will show that our nation is not dependent upon the AKP, that there is an alternative to them and that [our nation] may think of the MHP in this regard,” he said.
