The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) should not be underrated and has survived many challenges on the path to the June 7 general election with limited resources, MHP head Devlet Bahçeli said on June 4.“We have a brave heart and our heart beats for the Turkish people. We will not step back. All of [the other political parties] are trying to stop us on our path because we are speeding up … But they have not managed to do that because the MHP is not just a ‘piece of cake,’” Bahçeli said during his party’s election rally in the southern province of Osmaniye, his hometown.
The MHP is fighting against whoever has stood against and betrayed their country, he added.
“They have tried hard to stop us walking, but we have remained patient despite defamation campaign waged against us,” he added, referring to his party’s election slogan, “Walk With Us.”
Bahçeli harshly slammed Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, saying he was Turkey’s first ever “wicked leader” who was overshadowed by the president and had no bearing on any political matter.
Turkey has seen a prime minister who for the first time has downgraded his post and pretended to be someone else, he added.
“Everything will change in four days [in the general election] and Turkey will rise from the ashes,” Bahçeli vowed.
