Mersin signs Giray Bulak as new coach

Struggling Spor Toto Super League club Mersin İdman Yurdu signed a one-and-a-half year deal with coach Giray Bulak yesterday.The Mediterranean club parted ways with Nurullah Sağlam on Dec. 15, ending a two-year cooperation with the Turkish coach after he oversaw the club’s promotion to the top-flight in the 2010-2011 campaign. Mersin is sitting 17th in the 18-team Super League standings, with just 15 points from 16 games.
Journeyman coach Bulak last worked as the general manager of Trabzonspor.
“I asked permission from Trabzonspor to work in Mersin,” Bulak said at a press conference yesterday. “Of course, the team is not in the place it deserves. I believe I can carry the team to better positions.”
In the last two decades Bulak has coached at several top-flight teams, including Vanspor, Konyaspor, Antalyaspor, Denizlispor, Ankaraspor and Manisaspor.
