Maya Sar represents Bosnia at Eurovision 2012

Maya Sar, singer and songwriter, will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

The announcement was made by the BHRT, Bosnia and Herzegovina state television. She will sing “I Know Your Steps.”

Speaking to Anatolia News Agency, Maya Sar said she prepared her songs in Istanbul. “Traditional Turkish music has added an exclusive angle to my song,” she said. “In Istanbul we have worked with lots of Turkish musicians and it was a beautiful experience for me.”

Maya Sar is a songwriter, composer and singer who works with the biggest names from the Balkan region. For many years she was a member of the band Dino Merlin, with whom she performed at the last Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, Germany.

She is the founder of a regional humanitarian project combating cervical cancer called Moj je život moja pjesma (My Life is my Song) and the composer and songwriter of the eponymous song.

Maya Sar achieved remarkable success with her first self-composed single, Nespretno (Awkwardly). In Düsseldorf earlier this year, Bosnia & Herzegovina finished 6th with 125 points with Dino Merlin and the song “Love in Rewind.”
