Martina Topley-Bird sings on Garajistanbul’s stage

Martina Topley-Bird will perform at Garajistanbul tonight at 10 p.m. as part of the Akbank Jazz Festival. Born in 1975, London-based singer and song-writer Topley-Bird started her career as the backing vocalist on Tricky’s debut album “Maxinquaye.” She later released her own debut album “Quixotic” in 2003 and a second one in 2008, including the single “Poison,” which topped the indie music charts. In 2010, as well as releasing her third album, she also worked with Massive Attack on the band’s “Heligoland” album and tour. Often described as the most unique figure in English jazz music, Topley-Bird always creates music that pushes the limits of her audience’s imagination.
