Mario Biondi Sextet is taking the stage at the Istanbul Jazz Center on Nov. 11. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are available at www.biletix.com. Mario Biondi is an Italian singer and composer. Mario’s passion for music began at the early age of 12 when he sang in a church choir. For a while he worked as a session singer and in 1988 he had an important opportunity as a support act for Ray Charles’ Italian concerts. His big break came in 2004 with the release of the single “This Is What You Are.” Originally planned for release only in Japan, the cool and irresistible song was noticed by European radio. Well-known DJ Norman Jay began to feature the song on his BBC1 show playlist and Mario’s incredible voice crossed the European continent ahead of the artist himself. Biondi has also been honored by the British Council.
