Mamut art fair opens at Istanbul’s Antrepo
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Fair supports young artists and displays works that have not been seen.
The Mamut Art Project fair opened on May 15 at Istanbul’s Antrepo 3. The project was brought to life in order to give young and independent artists the chances they deserve, to spread their unique works of art to a wider audience and to shed a new, young and dynamic light on art. The fair has witnessed many ground breaking works of young artists up to today. The goal of the project and the fair is to generate a starting point in the careers of artists who are unfamiliar with the art market and its working conditions, and to create a transition period between being an arts student to becoming an established artist.
The Mamut Art Project is based on the “Affordable Art” concept, of which there are examples abroad spreading at an increasing pace. By being repeated every year, the Mamut Art Project aims to become an institution that artists trust and that art lovers are inspired by. Art critic and academic and curator Ali Akay, artist Nil Yalter, curator Marcus Graf, collector Mustafa Taviloğlu and Sedat Öztürkler are all on the jury of the fair.
