The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul deputy Mahmut Tanal joined “walking woman” CHP member Aylin Kotil today for a short period of time to protest Turkey’s 10 percent election threshold. She set out to Ankara on foot from Istanbul on July 8.

Kotil, who is being accompanied by a group of five people for her logistical needs, said Tanal walked with her for a while on her Twitter account at 5 a.m.

Tanal also said “Republic’s woman is walking for the removal of the election threshold,” according to a daily Çağdaş Ses.

Aylin Kotil, who is a member of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), said she was planning to arrive at the Turkish Parliament in 22 days to meet with the spokespersons of the four political parties and hand them her manifesto to remove the election threshold.

Kotil was in northwestern province of Gebze.
