Local steel industry eyes huge projects
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Turkey’s steel industry is facing a boon thanks to the planned giant projects in Istanbul.“The industry has continued to grow despite the euro crisis, Arab Spring, dumping of products and high customs taxes... We, as the industry representatives, believe that the 2 percent decrease in domestic demand could be compensated for as the planned huge projects in Istanbul, including Canal Istanbul, the third bridge and the new airport, start,” said Namık Ekinci, the head of the Steel Exporters Union of Turkey. He added that industry representatives needed to be patient to take part in these huge projects.
