Local boss receives peace award

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has honored Rona Yırcalı, a Turkish businessman holding senior posts in local and international business organizations, with a Merchant Peace Award.Yırcalı, who is chairman of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) and a member of ICC, is granted the award due to successful works he has performed during his duty at the helm of WCF and his membership of ICC.
ICC President Gerard Worms presented him with the award in Paris during a meeting at the end of June. Meanwhile Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the president of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) was selected to the board of ICC at the same meeting.
Career at WCF
Yırcalı is also the president of the assembly of the Balıkesir Chamber of Industry and the chairman of the executive board of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK).
Yırcalı has been serving as the chairman of WCF since 2003. His tenure ends at the end of 2012. He will act as WCF Honorary Chair after he steps down from his post as the chairman.
The ICC established the WCF, which unites a global network of 12,000 chambers and their business communities, in 1950.
