The Leyla Gencer Voice Competition attracted a record number of participants this year, with preliminary auditions in six European countries, and now 41 finalists have been selected to compete in Istanbul to establish a presence in the opera world. The final series, which comprises three sections, began on Sept. 16. The finalists will sing on Sept. 18 at CRR Concert Hall, accompanied by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Pietro Mianiti, where this year audience votes will be counted toward a special prize.
