Leicester, Freiburg agree on Turkish footballer Çağlar Söyüncü’s transfer: Reports
ISTANBUL
Premier League club Leicester City has reportedly agreed to transfer Turkish international footballer Çağlar Söyüncü from the Bundesliga club Freiburg for around 19 million pounds ($25 million), British media reported on Aug. 9.
Leicester City and Freiburg have settled on a deal worth up to 19 million pounds, according to Sky Sports.
“Leicester have lined up a deal for Söyüncü as they look to bolster their defensive options before the close of the transfer window on Aug. 9,” HITC Sport reported.
Söyüncü has made 15 appearances for Turkey after being called up in November 2015 from then head coach Fatih Terim.
In 2016, 22-year-old Söyüncü joined Freiburg from Altınordu, based in Turkey’s Aegean province of İzmir and playing in the second level First League. He made 50 appearances, scoring once, for the Bundesliga side.
Being highly-regarded in Europe, he was linked with a possible move to Premier League frontrunner Arsenal earlier this summer.
