KRG denies search for oil in Kandil

The Ministry of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government of northern Iraq has categorically denied a story that was published in the Hürriyet Daily News July 3 claiming that the KRG was to search for oil in the Kandil Mountains, the base of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party. 

The article quoted Doğan news agency, which cited a report by the Kurdish-language website Rudaw. “The KRG has not been in discussion with any parties in the Kandil Mountain area with respect to oil exploration,” an advisor to the ministry told the Daily News.
