Kilci replaces Ulusoy in tax revenue office

Hurriyet Daily News with wires
Ulusoy has been transferred to Northern Cyprus to serve as a finance undersecretary of the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia. Ulusoy, who is currently on a paid leave, may opt to resign when he returns from leave this week, Salih Yendi, spokesman for the administration, told Bloomberg in a telephone interview.

According to media report, the main reason Ulusoy has been pulled out of this role is the wiretapping of a mobile phone conversation between Soner Gedik, deputy chairman of the Doğan Media Group, or DMG, and Ulusoy, who was then the commissioner of the Revenue Administration. The conversation was leaked to several Web sites, including YouTube. The conversation leaked just days after the Finance Ministry imposed a record tax levy of 826 million Turkish Liras against the DMG on alleged tax evasion charges. According to a report by daily Hürriyet, Finance Minister Kemal Unakıtan was aware of the phone call and he was the one who advised Gedik to call Ulusoy.
