Kazakh capital hosting action actors at festival

Russian actress Ekaterina Gerchmen - Valdek arrives in the festival opening.
The 3rd Astana Action Film Festival has brought together hundreds of action film stars from countries including the U.S., the U.K., France, Russia and China, on the red carpet of the Kazakh capital’s Palace of Peace and Reconciliation.The festival’s opening screening on July 2 was “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” a new film from festival organizer Kazakh director Timur Bekmambetov. The festival will screen a total of 20 films, Bekambatov said, at the opening ceremony.
Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov attended the opening of the event, together with President Ömürbek Babanov. Famous cinema figures attending the festival included French actor Vincent Cassel, English actor Dominic Cooper, American director Kevin Reynolds, actor-director Jim Lemley, Korean actor Kang Je-gyu, and Russian actress Elizaveta Boyarskaya.
