Jazz tribute program from Salon
Salon IKSV hosts a tribute program for the famous names of jazz, where prominent musicians of the Istanbul jazz music scene will pay homage to the genre’s legends. Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone tribute nights were held in 2011, when the program debuted. In 2012, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Antonio Carlos Jobim were paid tribute. Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington tribute nights are on the way in 2013, with the collaboration of Salon and NU-DC. The lineup for a jazz session honoring Cole Porter includes Başak Yavuz, Bora Çeliker, Ceyda Özbaşarel, Çağıl Kaya ve Şirin Soysal (vocals), Adem Gülşen (piano), Tamer Temel (tenor saxophone), Baran Say (double bass) and Erdem Göymen (drums), with Vedat Özdemiroğlu as the master of ceremonies.
