ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
The Jamaican Legends will open the 19th Istanbul Jazz festival tonight on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence at 9 p.m. at the Marmara Esma Sultan. The band features virtuoso guitarist Ernest Ranglin, who helped shape the sound of ska as it emerged in the 1950s and who draws large crowds on the touring circuit and remains a highlight of numerous European festivals throughout year. He will be joined by The Wailers’ pianist Tyrone Downie, drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare. Tickets are available at Biletix booths.
