A tender for a third airport in Istanbul that will have an annual passenger capacity of 100 million will be launched Jan. 24, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said.“We hope to finish this project in three or four years,” Erdoğan said today during his weekly address to his parliamentary group in Ankara.
Istanbul’s current Atatürk International Airport and the smaller Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Anatolian side of Istanbul are barely meeting increasing passenger demand.
Many international actors might also eye their chances on the third airport project, sources said earlier.
