Istanbul's Haydarpaşa army hospital to be relocated

‘GATA Haydarpaşa Education Hospital Commandership’s new facility is going to be built in Çekmeköy’ says Minister Şimşek

Istanbul’s Haydarpaşa Hospital at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) will move to a new facility in Çekmeköy, Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has said.
 
“GATA Haydarpaşa Education Hospital Commandership’s new facility is going to be built in Çekmeköy in order to provide health care in modern and earthquake-resistant institutions compliant with national health structure standards.” said Şimşek.

There are no plans for the Finance Ministry to obtain the estates of İzmir’s İstihkam School, Tuzla’s School of Infantry, Etimesgut’s Armored Forces School and Mamak’s Communications and Electronics Information Technologies School and Education Center Commandership (MEBS) School, Şimşek said. 
No agreement with the military

“The Department of Chief of Staff and Premiership did not make an agreement regarding the estates owned by the Turkish Armed Forces,” Şimşek said, while answering a parliamentary question from Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kırklareli Congresman Mehmet Siyam Kesimoğlu regarding the transfer of military estates to the Finance Ministry. 

 “There aren’t any efforts in place to pass on the military hospitals. There aren’t any plans to return the estates of İstihkam School and Education Center Commandership [located in Narlıdere in İzmir], Armed Forces School and Education Division Commandership [in Etmesgut in Ankara], School of Infantry [in Tuzla in Istanbul], Communications and Electronics Information Technologies School or the Education Center Commandership [in Mamak in Ankara] to the Ministry of Finance. Estates that belonged to the Armed Forces and were not needed for military purposes were returned to the Ministry of Finance. However, there isn’t an expansive plan for these estates, only singular projects,” Şimşek said.
