The 40th International Jewelry Show kicked off March 12 in Istanbul, bringing together jewelry industry professionals and purchasers from around the world.“We’ve seen around 2,000 purchasers. We also expect around 7,000 foreign visitors to come here. There is no room at Istanbul hotels right now because of this fair,” said Ayhan Güner, the chairman of the Turkish Jewelry Exporters’ Association.
İlyas Devli, chairman of the Istanbul-based diamond company Tekvin, believes Arab customers have boosted the jewelry market.
“We’ve focused on Arab countries amid the fluctuations in the global markets. We expect to sell our $120,000 diamond ring to customers from Dubai, Qatar or Saudi Arabiai” Devli said.
The fair, sponsored by Türkiye Ekonomi Bankası (TEB), will run until March 16.
