Istanbul awaits heavy storm over weekend
ISTANBUL
The Meteorology General Directorate on Dec. 8 forecast a heavy storm will be effective in Istanbul over the weekend.
According to a statement by the directorate, strong winds will be effective in the morning hours of Dec. 9 in the Marmara region and Istanbul with a speed between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour from the south and southwest.
It also forecast local storm to be effective between 60 and 90 kilometers per hour after the evening hours.
However, the strong winds will weaken following the afternoon hours of Dec. 10, it added.
The directorate warned locals to be cautious against the heavy storm.
