Hürrem’s effect on invitations

With summer just around the corner, couples are beginning to plan and organize weddings. One of the most difficult details in planning a wedding is the choice of an invitation. The Ottoman era, which has been inspiring designs for everything in recent years, is also making its mark on wedding invitations.

 One Turkish company is producing a wedding invitation featuring a reproduction of the stone from a ring worn by the historical character Hürrem Sultan in the popular TV series “Muhteşem Yüzyıl” (Magnificent Century).

Company representative Hüsamettin Kayaardı says there are many Ottoman-inspired designs among this year’s wedding invitations. “Our designers are reflecting Ottoman styles on invitations. The design that we call ‘Hürrem Sultan’ receives a lot of interest. It includes a stone like that of the ring Hürrem Sultan wears in the series,” he said.
