A herd of 20 famished pigs recently approached a beach on a popular island off Turkey’s Aegean coast and socialized with tourists. The pigs came ashore on Kara Ada off the Bay of Bodrum in search of food, according to tourists, who took pictures and fed the animals after noticing their state.
According to tourist boat captain Tolga Çotura, this is not the first time that pigs have descended on tourist beaches.
“Every year dozens of boats carrying tourists feed these pigs... They have gotten used to people and eventually came to symbolize the island. The pigs are especially hungry during the summer so, as boat captains, we do our best to provide food and water,” Çotura stated.
