A newly opened restaurant-museum in the eastern province of Erzurum has gathered 11 historical houses under the same roof, displaying centuries-old household items and drawing great interest from tourists.“Tourists not only see these nostalgic houses, but also taste traditional meals using old household goods,” said Ufuk Demir, who operates the Erzurum Houses restaurant-museum, adding that people ate meals with copper plates using wooded spoons.
Demir said they tried to stay away from technology in the houses and added that the houses were proving very popular with domestic and foreign tourists visiting the province.
The Erzurum Houses also includes the Alemdarlar Konağı, which was built in 1907 in the Daşhane area and served as an armory between 1914 and 1918, said Demir. “The house has been decorated with hundreds of objects and has become one of the most unique venues in the city. We also present live music on some weekdays in the house.”
