State-run Halkbank has declared a net profit of 1.25 billion liras in the first six months of the year, the company said yesterday.The bank increased its total deposits by 18 percent to 78 billion liras in the first half of the year compared with last year, while total loans were up 7.2 percent reaching 79 billion liras. The amount of consumer credits in the first half of the year increased 9.8 percent to 16.6 billion liras.
The financial success of the bank is acknowledged by international surveys, according to Halkbank General Manager Süleyman Aslan. Touching on the survey of 500 banks with the highest brand value in the world issued by Banker magazine, Aslan said: “Halkbank is the bank that registered the highest leap in the list this year, going up 53 places.” k HDN
