Grid sale deadline extended

The Privatization Board has extended the deadline for payment of the electricity license tenders for the Akdeniz, Istanbul Anatolian side and Toros grids until Feb. 29, 2012.The extension was granted at the request of companies that had previously placed winning bids. Park Holding was the highest bidder for the Akdeniz grid. Istanbul’s Antolian side went to MMEKA, a venture between Mehmet Emin Karamehmet and Emin Kazancı. MMEKA also had won the bid for the European side of the city. Ankara-based Yıldızlar SSS Holding won the Toros region.
Meanwhile, AKSA Elektrik has announced that it will make a 310 million Turkish Liras investment in the Malatya, Elazığ, Bingöl and Tunceli electricity distribution regions in five years.
