Gov’t boosts support for Expo 2020

Officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health are to take seats on the Expo 2020 İzmir Steering Board to support the city’s bid.

The board will be comprised of nine members. The governor of the western province of İzmir will nominate a president, who will be approved by the steering committee for the global industry event. Six of the board members will be representatives of the İzmir Municipality and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Culture, and Transportation.

Expo 2010 was held in Shanghai, China, and was visited by 73 million people.
