Galatasaray makes it to top 20 in UEFA's all-time club rankings
ISTANBUL
Galatasaray ranked 20th in UEFA's latest all-time Club World Rankings list, Doğan News Agency reported on Dec. 30.
While champion of the last two seasons, Real Madrid topped the list, Bayern Munich and Barcelona FC followed.
Fenerbahçe joined the list from the 47th spot as Beşiktaş ranked 51st.
Galatasaray defeated Göztepe 3-1 on Dec. 24 in the first game under Fatih Terim, the veteran coach who has returned to the Istanbul side for a fourth term, only hours after Turkish Super League leader Başakşehir beat Kasımpaşa to be crowned the winter champion.
Terim signed with Galatasaray on Dec. 22, only days after Croatian coach Igor Tudor was sacked over fierce criticism, particularly for losing against other title contenders.
The 64-year-old Terim, formerly coach for Fiorentina and AC Milan, ruled Galatasaray from 1996 to 2000, 2002 to 2004 and 2011 to 2013. In his second stint with Turkey, he brought the country to the Euro 2008 semifinals.
