A Gabonese man who spoke with President Abdullah Gül during his visit to Gabon last year has received the engine he requested.Ayao Nyavor came to be known by the Turkish public when he had a conversation with Gül on the coast where he works as a fisherman, and requested an engine for his boat from the president. Yesterday Nyavor received the engine from Turkey’s ambassador in Libreville, Ahmet Rıza Demirer.Nyavor’s engine, which cost nearly 4,000 euros, was provided by the Turkish embassy in Gabon and authorities of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TİKA), according to information from officials at the president’s office.
Now Nyavor, who previously had only been able to fish along the coast because his boat lacked an engine, will be able to fish in the open sea. Gabon’s President Ali Bongo Ondimba will be in Ankara on July 18 as the guest of President Gül.
