French inflation falls sharply to 1.6 percent

In the month of November, consumer prices fell by 0.5 percent from the October level, the national statistics office INSEE reported. So-called underlying inflation, excluding the effects of prices for public services and of volatile prices such as oil prices, rose by 0.1 percent in November from the October level.
