Foreign Ministry reshuffles five Turkish ambassadors

Foreign Ministry reshuffles five Turkish ambassadors The Foreign Ministry has reassigned five ambassadors, recalling four to Turkey, the state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

While four of the ambassadors who have been on duty abroad have been recalled to Turkey, another official who has been heading a domestic post has been assigned as Turkey’s ambassador to Indonesia, according to a decree by published in the Official Gazette on Feb. 23.

Tacan İldem, who has been serving as Turkey’s permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE); Mithat Rende, who has been serving as Turkey’s permanent representative to the Paris-based Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); Yusuf Ziya Özcan, who has been serving as Turkey’s ambassador to Poland; and Zekeriya Alacam, who has been serving as Turkey’s ambassador to Indonesia, have all been recalled to Turkey for reassignment.

Mehmet Kadri Şander Gürbüz, who has up to now been a consultant in the Foreign Ministry, has been appointed as Turkey’s ambassador to Indonesia, according to the decree. 

İldem is expected to be shortly appointed as NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy along with career diplomat Burcu San.
