Flower pots thrown to stop man stabbing his wife in western Turkey

People in nearby apartments threw flower pots to try to stop a man from stabbing his wife in the street, in the western province of Düzce. The woman was taken to hospital after the incident.

The man, identified as Ü.B., started beating his wife, Ö.B., after they met on the street. Ö.B. had previously asked for a divorce. Ü.B. stabbed her with a bread knife that he was carrying with him in the street.

People who witnessed the incident from their flats threw flower pots from their balconies in an attempt to stop him. After the flower pots started raining down, Ü.B. fled the scene after injuring Ö.B. on her feet.

Ö.B. was taken to a nearby hospital, while the police have launched an operation to capture her husband.
