Five soldiers were wounded today in a landmine attack in the eastern Turkish province of Bitlis.
The landmines were reportedly activated by alleged members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) while an army vehicle was passing through. The explosion left five of the soldiers wounded, who were taken immediately to nearby hospitals.
Operations began in the area to find those responsible for the attack.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by the United States, European Union and Turkey.
