Fire breaks out at hotel construction in Istanbul

A fire broke out at the construction site of a twelve-story hotel in the Maltepe district of Istanbul on Jan. 12.

Firefighters managed to rescue workers trapped inside, who were later transferred to a hospital.

Firefighting work is still ongoing to bring the blaze under control.

Meanwhile, Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç arrived at the scene shortly after the fire broke out and was briefed on the fire’s current situation.

Kılıç has said the fire broke out while the workers were welding and added that they were in good condition.
