Film project for women in Diyarbakır
DİYARBAKIR - Anatolia News Agency
As part of a new project by the Bağlar Municipality, 25 women will be given cinema education in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır. The project, titled “A Purple Touch on Cinema: Secret Stories,” is sponsored by the Anna Lindh Foundation. The project will be open to all women between the ages of 18 and 30 who have not previously studied cinema.
Project coordinator Esra Özban said many women were interested in cinema but did not have the opportunity to formally study it due to social gender inequality and the political and socio-economic conditions of the region.
She said the project would take five months and include courses in theory, shooting and fiction. “We expect that 25 women will produce five films in five groups. We believe that the project is a very good opportunity for women to share information with each other and make a film. We want women to reveal their own secrets through cinema,” Özban said.
Women who want to take the advantage of the cinema education program should apply to the Bağlar Municipality Project Office.
