Fenerbahçe hopes to adjust to life without Alex de Souza – at least for one game – when it visits Sivasspor in one of tonight’s two Spor Toto Super League fixtures.
The defending champion is yet to be beaten in the first nine matches of the new season. However, the team will have to do without its captain and leading scorer against Sivasspor
Alex was sent off in just the sixth minute of his team’s Karabük game on Oct. 31, but Fenerbahçe went on to win the match 1-0.
Interestingly, the chairmen of both Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor are jailed pending trial as part of an ongoing match-fixing case.
Chairman Aziz Yıldırım of Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor boss Mecnun Odyakmaz are among the 31 club chairmen, coaches and players arrested for the alleged manipulation of several matches last season.
Four club members from Fenerbahçe and goalkeeper Korcan Çelikay from Sivasspor are also jailed.
In another league game, Samsunspor hosts Ankaragücü in a battle between the league’s bottom two.
Both games start at 8 p.m
