Fener eyes an end to dismal streak
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
Fenerbahçe looks to end its terrible streak in away games when it visits hapless Ankaragücü in the opening match of the weekend number 30 in the Spor Toto Super League tonight. The defending champion trails Galatasaray from a nine-point distance in the Super League and hopes to keep the pace with the leader. The two teams will meet to renew their century-old rivalry next week, which will also be a crucial match-up in the title race.
For getting to the derby in the best shape possible, Fenerbahçe looks to get all three points at Ankaragücü, who has no chance of surviving in the top-flight after picking up just 11 points from 29 games.
For Fenerbahçe, the game against hapless Ankaragücü is a chance to bring its four-game defeat streak in away games to an end.
Fenerbahçe will have to play without captain Alex de Souza, central defender Serdar Kesimal, combative midfielder Cristian Baroni and left winger Caner Erkin, who will serve their suspensions.
The game kicks off at 8 p.m.
