Female Beşiktaş fans witness cup victory over Gaziantep BB

Beşiktaş club thanked its some 10.000 female and children fans who were at the İnönü Stadium ‘despite the cold weather.’
Some 10,000 women and children filled the stands at İnönü Stadium to support Beşiktaş during the team’s 2-1 Ziraat Turkish Cup victory over Gaziantep BB on Jan. 11.Midfielders Veli Kavlak and Manuel Fernandes scored the winning goals for Beşiktaş, while Gaziantep BB found its only goal through Kenan Aslanoğlu. With the win, defending champion Beşiktaş advanced to the fourth round of the domestic cup.
Due to a Turkish Football Federation (TFF) decision, only women and children were allowed to the game.
In a statement released by the club, Beşiktaş thanked the fans for their support.
“We are proud of and thankful to our female and children fans who supported the club during the cup game despite the cold weather,” the statement read. “They filled the stadium and supported the club without stopping for a minute.”
Earlier this season, the TFF turned the ban of playing completely behind closed doors into not allowing men and opening doors to women and children under the age of 12. The Spor Toto Super League game between Fenerbahçe and Manisaspor was the first time the new “punishment” was applied, attracting 40,000 women and children to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul, creating a memorable spectacle.
In another important cup clash earlier Jan. 11, Trabzonspor beat minnow Istanbul side Güngören 2-0 to claim a place in round of 16 of the competition.
