FDI in industry sector hits $2.6 billion mark

Foreign direct investments in Turkish industrial sector reached $2.6 billion in the first four months of 2012.According to temporary figures of the Central Bank, foreign investments in Turkish industry were up 191 percent year-on-year in the first four months of 2012, and reached $2.6 billion.
Foreigners invested $4.2 billion in Turkey in the same period.
The highest direct investments in Turkey came from European countries in the first four months of 2012. Investments of European countries in Turkey totaled $3.2 billion. The figure stood at $5.8 billion in the same period of in 2011.
Britain was the European country from which Turkey received the highest investments. British businessmen invested $1.9 billion in Turkey in the first four months of 2012. The Netherlands followed Britain with $456 million.
Asia invested $855 million
Around $855 million of foreign investments came to Turkey from Asian countries in the mentioned period. Lebanon was the Asian country that invested the most in Turkey with $365 million, and Malaysia came the second with $230 million.
