Fazıl Say to perform in New York

Turkish composer and pianist Fazıl Say will give a concert it New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on April 20. The concert will take place at the museum’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium, to celebrate the opening of a new gallery displaying artworks from Turkey, Iran, Asia and Arab countries.Say will perform works by Janacek and Prokofiev along with his own works “Kara Toprak” (Black Earth) and “3 Ballads.” He will also perform “Paganini Jazz Variations,” “Alla Turca Jazz” and his own arrangement of Gershwin’s “Summertime.”
Prior to his New York concert, Say will perform April 19 at Mercyhurst University’s Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center in Erie, Pennsylvania.
