Turkey’s exports volume reached $12.6 billion in July with a 17.3 percent increase from the same month a year earlier, according to figures revealed by Turkish Exporters Association (TİM) yesterday, marking the highest rate of increase in exports this year, according to Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan.Çağlayan said in a written statement that the exports saw the highest rate of increase last month, adding that apart from a few exceptions all sectors had shown an increase. “Our exporters kicked off,” he said.
The automotive sector pioneered the rise in exports with $1.9 billion worth of exports last month, marking a 35.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The ready-wear sector followed it with $1.6 billion worth of exports last month, marking a 16.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Exports to the European Union increased to $5.3 billion last month with a 23 percent increase in the same period.
