Exhibit explores human adventure
ISTANBUL
Akbank Sanat is exhibiting a project by Magdalena Abakanowicz titled “The Human Adventure.” The artist tells an account of the odyssey of man, who came to earth on his own adventure. The adventure of the human being was to change the world. This he did mostly despite himself. He was eager to get accustomed to a universe he was alien to, to get used to its time and its space, or rather adapt them to himself. In time, man was transformed through art and he transformed space through art. He withstood his loneliness and alienness with art. He prevailed by creating. He is still pursued by the traces he left on the walls of the cave. Abakanowicz produces work relating to the 30,000-year adventure of man, and the man of the 30,000-year adventure of art. This is an exhibition from across the ages, an adventure passing through the ages.
