European Design Awards distributed in Istanbul

Organized by the European Design Organization in a different European city each year, the ninth edition of European Design Conference and Awards Ceremony was held in Istanbul on May 23 2015. At the Award Ceremony the European Design Agency Award, ED-Awards Best of Show and ED-Awards Jury Prize were presented. 31 projects were awarded with a Gold Prize, 61 with Silver Prize and 85 with Bronze Prize.

The 2015 European Design Agency Award is presented to Moscow based Ermolaev Bureau. The ED-Awards Best of Show was won by White Studio from Portugal for their work on the new city identity for Porto, which also won the Gold Prize in the brand implementation category. 

The ED-Awards Jury Prize was awarded to the self initiated project “What design can do” by De Designpolitie (Netherlands), which had won the same title nine years ago. For the first time in the history of the European Design Awards a studio managed to win a grand award twice. 

The 9th European Design Conference and Awards Ceremony was organized by the European Design Organization, in collaboration with the Istanbul Design Biennial and Turkish Graphic Designers Association (GMK) with the support of the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ), Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau and Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In the past the European Design Awards have been hosted in Athens, Stockholm, Zurich, Rotterdam, Vilnius, Helsinki, Belgrade and Cologne.
