Erdoğan and Rouhani discuss Syria, bilateral ties in phone call
ANKARA
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani agreed on April 17 to “maintain cooperation between Turkey, Iran and Russia” for a political solution to the conflict in Syria, Reuters has reported, citing a source in Erdoğan’s office.
The Turkish president also reportedly told Rouhani in the call that actions to increase tensions in the region should be avoided, after the U.S., the U.K. and France carried out air strikes against targets of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over the weekend.
The two leaders also expressed their satisfaction with developing economic ties between Turkey and Iran, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
