Berlin-based Turkish concert pianist Emre Elivar is taking the stage tonight at Akbank Sanat. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at Biletix booths. The concert repertoire includes works of Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt. Elivar is a graduate of the State Conservatory in Ankara. Receiving a DAAD scholarship, he pursued further education at Carl Maria von Weber and Hans Eisler music academies in Dresden and Berlin, respectively. At Hans Eisler, he obtained his master’s degree and the title of concert pianist (Konzertpianist). During his studies and early career, Elivar won several international music prizes like the Triple Awards in Bremen in 1999, the bronze medal at Cidado do Porto in 1999 and at the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati in 2000, the Steinway Prize in 2001, the Arthur Schnabel Prize in 2002 and the Vendome Prize in 2003.
