Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou will conduct performances of her own work at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center on Oct. 6 in a concert commemorating director Theodoros Angelopoulos, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on January 24, 2012. Karaindrou gained widespread fame for the soundtracks for Angelopoulos’ films “Dust of Time,” “The Weeping Meadow,” and “Elegy of the Uprooting.” Music from “The Weeping Meadow” has also been performed by the Athens Symphony Orchestra. The album and DVD for “Elegy of the Uprooting” were recorded in collaboration with Maria Farantouri and a 110-member orchestra and became a global hit in 2005. Karaindrou will perform with Ender Sakpınar, conducting an orchestra of 31 musicians.
