Dog fight gang members detained in Denizli

Gendarmerie forces saved 60 dogs in an operation against dog fights in the Aegean province of Denizli on Dec. 2.Around 80 gendarmerie forces raided an area in the Gökbaşlı neighborhood of the Çivril district, where they learnt that a group was forcing dogs to fight and gamble over it.
They detained a number of people from the group and saved 60 dogs that were brought to the area for the fights. However, some people claimed that around 40 dogs were taken away by the fighters before the gendarmerie forces could find them.
The detainees told the gendarmerie forces that they have come from nearby provinces such as Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, İzmir, Aydın, Manisa, Uşak, Afyonkarahisar and Burdur. They will be charged with “gambling illegally, “organizing illegal gambling,” and “organizing dog fights.”
