Documentary Days films free for public

Istanbul Documentary Days Documentarist, which began June 1, has canceled a panel discussion titled “A Difficult Love Story – Making Documentaries in Turkey” scheduled for Bahçeşehir University today due to the ongoing clashes that have broken out in Taksim Gezi Park and are continuing throughout Turkey.

Other events going on

The other events and screenings of the festival, except for Akbank Sanat, are going on as planned, according to a statement made by the festival committee.

“Meanwhile, the festival has decided to make all screenings public free of charge. As we say in our teaser: Breathe reality through documentaries,” the statement said.

Another event that was canceled because of the recent incidents is Dutch DJ Tiesto’s concert, which was scheduled for June 7 at Istanbul’s Parkorman as part of the Vodafone Istanbul Calling. Public Service Broadcasting’s concert tomorrow as part of the same event was also canceled.
